Rainbow 6: Patriots remains in development at Ubisoft and could debut on next-generation platforms, according to company CEO Yves Guillemot. The executive told Polygon that the action game will "surprise the industry" when it does arrive. Rainbow 6: Patriots was announced for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in November 2011 with a 2013 release window attached.
Guillemot would not confirm if Rainbow 6: Patriots was in fact a next-generation game, but said, "There's a good chance it can be."
Next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony are being readied for launch during the back half of 2013, according to analysts.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal with assistance from Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm, Rainbow 6: Patriots will follow the counterterrorism Team Rainbow squad as it tries to put down a group of American insurgents known as the True Patriots. As players look to suppress the True Patriots' budding revolution, they will be faced with "tough ethical decisions," according to Ubisoft.
